TAKE AWAY EVERYTHING, BUT NOT MY APPETIZER

If there's one thing Italians can't give up, it's aperitivo.

From Milan to Palermo, crossing the streets of the Bel Paese, everyone shares this tradition that in every city and in every neighborhood has a different nuance.

Technically, aperitif is an alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink that is drunk before meals. The term derives from the Latin aperitivus, which opens, that is, precedes: with a sip we can go back in time to the sumptuous Roman banquets, laden with food and drink, and toast to fun.

The iconic Spritz is the king of the aperitif. Regenerating, refreshing, thirst quenching. Made by mixing Prosecco, bitters and soda, it is garnished with a slice of orange or lemon and served over ice.

But if in front of a bar you hear "shall we have an aperitif?", "so...bee'?", "come on, now I just need an aperitif", you should know that something more than just a drink is being proposed.

Aperitivo is a moment of total relaxation -- of "dolce far niente" -- in which to enjoy Italian delicacies, and above all, an opportunity to connect with friends, lovers and even strangers.

Aperitif is an authentic experience.

Aperitivo in Italy is more than just a break for a drink and a snack. It is a celebration of local culture, sociability and cuisine. While each city has its own unique style, they all share a love of good company and good food. Cheers!

Stefano Siggillino, Artist

Where are you from?"

I was born in Matera but lived for many years first in Milan and then in Athens, and then returned

in my beloved city of stones.

What is your initial rite?

Before each evening, a shower that lasts the time of two songs shouted at the top of the lungs, making

waking up the neighborhood: Dream baby dream by Suicide and SOS by Abba. Searching for the 'right outfit,

.

Now I'm ready to unleash the evening.

Tell us about a typical evening in Matera.

On the beautiful hot days of summer, surely sunset on the Belvedere della Murgia Materana,

dinner exclusively at Falco Grillaio or Mario's, places we've been going since we were

very small and to finish closing drinks at Zipa or Area 8.

What is your favorite club in Matera and why?__The one I go to the most is the bar Area 8, one of the few places where there are cool DJ sets and live music. I've played here many times, it's like home.

Where are you from?"

I am from Basilicata, born and raised in Potenza, of Lazio adoption, having lived there six years.

What is your initial rite?

Rosalia as background music, a good dose of flamenco in your ears, half an hour ad

admiring. My closet with a thousand garments only to always choose my usual low-waisted jeans.

After taking a few pre-evening photos with a good sunset behind you, you can leave the house.

I'm not from Matera, I've been living it for a few months now and I can tell you that after facing

an hour of desperate searching to find parking, we head downtown for an aperitif view of the stones,

and between spritzes, olives and good company we wait for dinner time, moving on to other venues in the center

to eat good typical cuisine, finishing the evening at the belvedere, observing the landscape

lit.

Your favorite song to end the evening?"__

I listen to a lot of flamenco, and Spanish music of all kinds, lately my evenings are winding down

with her: Eslabon Armado Peso Pluma - Ella Baila Sola.

Where are you from?"

I come from Gioia del colle in the province of Bari, but I was born in Acquaviva delle Fonti.

What is your initial rite?

Before I go out for a night out I spend most of my time thinking about what I owe myself

mitting, trying to predict the style of people who will be there and the weather, to avoid dying of

cold and/or hot. This is why I am always late for appointments.

When you're in a cab and you can choose the song, which one do you put on?"

I'd put something by Aiello lately, namely Let's Wait for Morning or Free.
